Simply put, Internet Data Exchange (IDX) is the vehicle used for a broker to provide MLS listing data for public internet display—in other words, IDX encompasses the rules, policies and technology that allows BAREIS MLS® members to display the listings of other members on their own real estate website. Other MLSs may refer to this program as a Broker Reciprocity Agreement, as it grants permission to cooperating brokers to advertise the listings of other brokers on their websites. The MLS maintains very specific rules regarding the display of the data and who can and cannot advertise the listings of other brokers.

IDX is delivered to members and vendors via an IDX data feed, which is formatted to allow the public to search for homes on a website. Many third party IDX vendors offer additional IDX products that can be customized to meet member’s specific needs.
